Why should you schedule routine A/C maintenance on your AC?

Posted by Wayne Romanchuk on Wednesday, May 11, 2016

Just like a car requires regular oil changes, tune ups and tire rotation, your central air conditioning unit requires routine maintenance to keep it performing in peak condition. Many, if not all, minor problems can be caught before they become major repairs through routine scheduled maintenance. So why is it important to maintain the AC unit?

A properly maintained A/C unit can save you money in the long run. When air conditioning unit filters are clogged and dirty, it forces the unit to work harder to maintain a cool house. Have your noticed a stale, maybe even a faint mildew odor. Perhaps sinuses are bother your or the a loved one or maybe even asthma attacks are being triggered? Routine maintenance can improve the air quality of your home and reduce the environmental irritants in the air.

Finally a properly maintained air conditioner unit can prolong the life of your A/C unit and keep it performing at optimum peak condition.

Eeny, Meeney, Miney, Moe . . .How Do You Select an Air Conditioning Repair Company?

Posted by Wayne Romanchuk on Tuesday, April 26, 2016

In the not so distant past, one would’ve let their fingers do the walking in the Yellow Pages to Air Conditioning companies or HVAC companies. One would’ve read the ads and decided on which one looked the best. Or maybe one asked a neighbor, friend, or relative. Perhaps a radio ad or television commercial, billboard, a coupon heralding a special price, or some other form of advertising draws one in. But how does one really choose a reputable A/C repair company?

Check with the local Better Business Bureau. The BBB offers reviews and accreditation for businesses. The BBB also provides ratings for companies under its purview. Currently, LPAC Services or Larry Pearson Air Conditioning & Heating, Inc. has a well deserved ‘A+’ rating.

One can also check out Angie’s List for honest customer reviews. LPAC Services has received many five star reviews. Angie’s List verifies reviews to make certain that they are from actual customers and not the company or a representative of the company.

HomeAdvisor Link for LPAC Services HomeAdvisor verifies the reviews they receive as well. They also screen their companies with a rigorous background check so that you’re assured of getting an honest and reputable company.

Not only has LPAC Services received several high and favorable reviews, but they’ve also just won their 5th ( now 5 in a row) Super Service Award from Angie’s List and and have a4.7 rating on HomeAdvisor. Only a small percentage, 5%, of companies achieve the Super Service Award.

Other factors to take into consideration when choosing a company are; the length of time the company has been in operation, does the company listen to the needs of the customer, conflict resolution, is the work guaranteed, and is heating and air conditioning the primary focus.

Still unsure if LPAC Services is the air conditioning company for you, read their reviews.

Whew! It’s Hot in Here

check the thermostate

Has this ever happened to you? Your home is crisp, cool, and comfortable when you leave for work, school, run errands, or even go for a nice long walk. When you return it’s hot, humid, and unbearable. Before you reach for the phone to Google an A/C repair company, here are a few things you can do to troubleshoot the unit.

air conditioner breaker box

These are the top three things that can be done before you call an A/C repair company.

  1. First, check your thermostat. Sometimes a power surge can reset the thermostat. Turn the unit off and on, or lower the temp. If the unit comes back on, fantastic. If not, try the next step.

  2. Second, check the breaker box.  Not sure what the breaker box is, here’s a quick picture. Make sure the switch is in the on position. If not, flip it on. what happens if the breaker is on and the unit still doesn’t work? Try the next step.

  3. Third, check the drainage hose.air conditioner drainage hose A clogged hose can disrupt the flow of power to the unit. Think of it like a clogged sink. Nothing goes in and nothing goes out. You can “plunge” the clog by using the hose from a Wet/Dry Vac.

  4. Two more items that can be checked are the filters and the dehumidstat. Dirty filters lead to poor air flow and costs more money to run because the unit has to work harder to produce cooler air.

  5. The last item that you can check is assuring that the dehumidistat setting is in the “on” position.

If all the steps have been tried and the air conditioning unit is unsuccessful, give LPAC Services a call. If LPAC can’t fix your unit, they’ll buy it from you. They are a company with over 25 years experience with several accolades and many customer service awards.
